Although this page is still under construction, and a full set of rules will displayed shortly, here are one or two reminders to all competitors. Under OUR rules ( not necessarily the official rules) you are respectfully asked to :-
THROW THE BOULE PROPERLY
Boules must leave the players hand with the palms of the hands facing DOWNWARDS and/or BACKWARDS. In other words boules should NOT be thrown with the palms of the hand facing upwards. It has been noticed that some players have a tendency to turn the hand over just as they release the boule. They may not be aware that they are doing it, and the odd deviance may be inevitable. Nevertheless it is frowned upon and team captains should watch and advise team players appropriately. It was agreed by all at the last AGM that a team captain worried about repeated offenders should "have a word" with the opposing team captain. Let's hope that this is sufficient . Repeat offenders however may well find that their names will be reported to the Twinning Association committee and put forward at the next AGM when further decisions will be made.
KEEP YOUR FEET TOGETHER PLEASE
Before throwing the boule, players should ensure that their feet are placed together and both are on the ground Many players seem unaware of this basic rule. Placing one foot in front of the other, or lifting one foot off the ground whilst throwing the boule is frowned upon and does give an unfair advantage to the offender over those who play properly. We are introducing mats or metal hoops in an attempt to resolve this issue but it has been agreed that leniency will be shown to the elderly, ill or infirm. Those that are not elderly or infirm however have no excuse whatsoever and should adapt their playing technique accordingly in accordance with the true meaning of the term petang or "locked feet". Captains please try to resolve this issue with your team members before the matter is raised by opposing captains during matches. Once again, repeat offenders may be reported to the Twinning Committee for appropriate discussion at the next AGM.
