Troglodite Settlement in Azay

This interesting site was only discovered by accident some twenty years ago by a child sliding down a bramble covered bank

The site has been lovingly restored and as well as an array of old farming implements and machinery, animals are housed as they might have been many years ago 

The inhabitants lived very simple lives but were constantly troubled by marauders.  Caves, with cleverly hidden entrances, were tunnelled out beneath the settlement for the inhabitants to hide in. The site guide will show you the caves if you're not claustrophobic.
